BINGHAMTON IMPROVES FORWARD DEPTH AHEAD OF WEEKEND CONTESTS

by Rob Lippolis

Binghamton- The Binghamton Black Bears announced on Thursday afternoon the addition of two former SUNY-Oswego Lakers to the 2022-23 roster.

Former captain of the Lakers, Mac Lewis will join the team ahead of the weekend slate against the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Lewis played in 32 games for Oswego, finishing his career with a +5 rating.  Lewis brings a big physical presence to the forward groups.  Prior to arriving in NY, Lewis spent three seasons playing with the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL, playing in 50+ games each season.  Also, leading the Golden Hawks to the playoffs in each of his campaigns.

Tyson Kirkby, former Laker and line-mate with Lewis, also returns to the Black Bears off of loan from the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL.  Kirkby returns to Binghamton as a second-year Black Bear playing in the tail-end part of the regular season last year.  Kirby was credited with 26 points in 14 games played in the regular season, and would go on to register 5 more in the postseason, playing in all three games against Danbury.

Look out for Kirkby and Lewis to reappear on the same line this season for the Black Bears as they make a push for the Commissioner's Cup.
