BINGHAMTON TRAVELS TO DANBURY FOR WEEKEND SERIES

by Rob Lippolis

BINGHAMTON- The Binghamton Black Bears return to the ice this weekend as they travel to face the Danbury Hat Tricks for the first time this season.

The Black Bears are coming off a spilt weekend at home against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.  Binghamton was able to win the Friday night showdown 4-3 in overtime.  The Sea Wolves were up 2-0 at one point in the game, but Cam Yarwood and Austin Thompson would connect twice to send the game to overtime, and score the eventual winner.

In Saturday's contest Mississippi jumped out once again to a 2-0 lead.  The Sea Wolves were able to keep the Black Bears at bay during the game keeping a two-goal cushion over the home team for the most of the night.  The visiting team pulled away in the third period as the Sea Wolves were able to grab their first win of the season and hand Binghamton their first lost of the campaign.

Danbury opens up the season with their second straight series at home.  The Hat Tricks were able to handed the Delaware Thunder with ease sweeping their weekend games 12-5 and 6-3.  Danbury's Luke Richards tallied six points in two games, including a hat trick in Saturday's finale.  The Hat Tricks were able to hold Delaware to only 15 shots per game, a weekend total of 30.

Only two points separate these teams early in the '22-23 season.  The puck drops inside Danbury Ice Arena Friday night at 7:30 P.M. & Saturday night at 7:00 P.M. Fans can listen to Black Bears games all season long on Fox 1430 Binghamton and anywhere on the IHeart radio app.
