by Rob Lippolis

BINGHAMTON – The Binghamton Black Bears announced today that the club has signed former American Hockey League forward Jon Mirasty for the 2022-23 season.

The 5-foot-10, 229-pound forward played in 182 regular-season games for the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch and recorded seven points and racked up 751 penalty minutes. The left-shooting Mirasty has played in 66 ECHL games for Bakersfield, Greenville, and Elmira.

“We wanted to bring in some more toughness, in addition to Jake Schultz, for the upcoming season and we’re thrilled to have Jon join the Black Bears,” said Head Coach Gary Gill. “Fans in Binghamton will remember his time in Syracuse, he’s a fan favorite wherever he plays, and we look forward to having him in the lineup.”

From 2011-2013, the Meadow Lake, SK native went overseas to play in the Kontinental Hockey League for Vityaz and Barys. He played in 40 games and had two assists and 214 minutes in penalties.
