BINGHAMTON - The Binghamton Black Bears announced that the club has signed forward Tyler Harkins.

Harkins, 26, played four seasons at Ohio University where he racked up 158 points (66 goals, 92 assists) in 126 games played. The 5-foot-8, 161-pound forward led the team in goals in two of his four years at Ohio University.

“I've been scouting Tyler for a few years now and we are very excited on what he can bring to our team,” said Executive Vice President of Operations, Jimmy Milliken. “He's the type of player that can make everyone else around him better.”

During his freshman season in 2016-17, Harkins scored 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) in 30 games as Ohio University advanced all the way to the National Championship game but lost to Central Oklahoma.

“He’s a goal scorer by reputation,” said Head Coach Rod Davidson. “He is a good finisher with a quick release and comes from a good family line of hockey players.”

Tyler’s Uncles, Brett, and Todd, played a combined 126 National Hockey League games and his cousin, Jansen Harkins, is currently on the Winnipeg Jets and has played in 85 NHL games.

The Black Bears return home tonight against Delaware at 7 p.m., December 29 against Danbury at 7 p.m. and New Year’s Eve against Watertown at 6 p.m.
