COLAN FITZGERALD RETURNS TO BINGHAMTON

by Rob Lippolis

BINGHAMTON- The Binghamton Black Bears are excited to announce the return of defenseman Colan Fitzgerald ahead of Military Appreciation Weekend.

Fitzgerald returns from loan with the SPHL's Birmingham Bulls, where he spent training camp and the first month of the 2022-23 season.  Fitzgerald is easily recognizable thanks to his long hair that flows down the ice with every change of direction.  Colan is a native of Burr Ridge, IL, and played his college hockey with the Indiana University Hoosiers.

As a member of the inaugural Black Bears club, Fitzgerald played in 52 of the 56 regular season games. He tallied 17 assists, while adding two goals from his blue line position.  Fitzgerald also played in all three of the playoffs games against Danbury and added on two more goals in the series.

Fitzgerald and the Black Bears turn their sights on the Motor City Rockers for a weekend showdown.  It is Military Appreciation Weekend Friday and Saturday night, presented by Lockheed Martin. The team will be wearing special alternate jerseys representing the stars and stripes, along with the seals of the Armed Forces.  Fans can bid on the special jerseys live after Saturday's game in section 1.
