LOCKHEED MARTIN TO PRESENT MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT CHECK

by Rob Lippolis

BINGHAMTON – The Binghamton Black Bears, in conjunction with Lockheed Martin, will present a check to the Twin Tiers Honor Flight and Guthrie Veterans Patient Fund during the second period of the Black Bears game on Friday, April 8 against Danbury.

Both checks in the amount of $4,470.39 will be presented to representatives of the Twin Tiers Honor Flight and Guthrie Veterans Patient Fund by Lockheed Martin’s Vice President & General Manager, Hamid Salim, during the first media timeout in the second period in the Zamboni corner between section’s 10 and 11.

“We are very proud to have partnered with the Binghamton Black Bears for Military Appreciation Night and help support two great Veteran organizations, the Twin Tiers Honor Flight and Guthrie Veterans Patient Assistant Fund. Giving back to our active military and veterans are a core value of Lockheed Martin and we’re thankful for the partnership.”

Guthrie’s Veteran Patient Assistance Fund provides financial support for veterans or members of their immediate household struggling with a severe or chronic medical condition. During financial hardship, the Veteran Patient Assistance can help patients across the Guthrie network with direct financial support for household bills.

“The Black Bears organization is honored to partner with Lockheed Martin for Military Appreciation Night,” said team owner Andreas Johansson. “It was an amazing night that honored the sacrifice our military makes, while also raising funds and awareness for two fantastic local groups that do so much for our active-duty military and veterans.”

The Twin Tiers Honor Flight is a non-profit charitable organization created solely to honor America's veterans for their sacrifices.  As part of the national Honor Flight Network, we transport veterans to Washington, D.C. in honor of their service so that they can visit and reflect at their memorials at no cost to the veteran.

Military Appreciation Night on February 19 drew a sellout crowd of 4,893 in a 9-3 victory over the Delaware Thunder.
