Martins Leps joins Binghamton

BINGHAMTON- The Binghamton Black Bears, 3x Commissioner Cup Champions, are proud to announce that Defenseman Martins Leps has signed for the 2026-27 season!  Martins is the 12th rookie player to sign ahead of training camp this fall.

The 24-year-old blue liner is native of Riga, Latvia where he was a member of the U17 and U18 Latvian National programs.  Leps has been playing in the United States since the 2020-21 season.  For the last three seasons, Martins has been apart of the New England College hockey program at the NCAA DIII level.  

In those three seasons with the Pilgrims, Leps appeared in 68 games.  He stands at 6'4" 216 pounds and recorded 46 blocked shots during his time in college.  Leps is the third defenseman to sign or re-sign for the Black Bears ahead of training camp in the fall.
