SEVEN GOAL THIRD PERIOD LIFTS BLACK BEARS TO 9-6 WIN.

PORT HURON - The Binghamton Black Bears scored seven goals in the third period in a 9-6 victory over the Port Huron Prowlers on Saturday night.

Tyler Gjurich started the scoring in the first period with his 24th goal of the year. Gjurich took a pass from Mo Levac and moved into the offensive zone lifting the puck over the left shoulder of goaltender Greg Harney. The goal came 14:25 into the first period with assists from Levac and Emil Strom.

Port Huron tied the game at one as Dalton Jay fired in his 26th of the season. Jay moved to the hash marks and sent a wrist shot off the post and into the net. Sam Marit and Gino Mini collected the assists, and the goal came at 17:29 of the first.

Brandon Contratto took a great pass from Danny Vanderwiel and gave Binghamton a 2-1 lead after one period. Gavin Yates fed Vanderwiel and Contratto finished it off by lifting the puck up and over the right shoulder of Greg Harney. The goal was Contratto’s second of the year and came with just 56 seconds left in the first.

Isaiah Crawford tied the game 8:21 into the second period. After Owen Liskiewicz made the original save, Crawford had the rebound go right to his stick and he fired it in for his ninth goal of the year. Justin Henning and Dante Suffredini were awarded the assists and the game was tied 2-2.

Dalton Jay scored his second of the night to give Port Huron a 3-2 lead. Jay took the puck on a breakaway and beat Liskiewicz for his 27th of the year. Assists were credited to Sam Marit and Brad Denney and the Prowlers took the one-goal lead into the third period.

Binghamton scored seven goals in the third period for the win. Emil Strom tied the game 3-3 at 1:13 of the third period. Danny Vanderwiel put the Black Bears in the lead 4-3 at 2:35 of the third. His goal was assisted by Brandon Contratto. 

The Black Bears added goals from Tyler Gjurich, Thomas Aldworth, Mo Levac, Nikita Ivashkin, and Brandon Contratto in the 9-6 victory.

The Black Bears return home on Saturday, February 19 for Military Appreciation Night presented by Lockheed Martin.
